Palliative & End of Life Care for Misty

Our sweet 10-year-old cat, Misty, will be making her way across the rainbow bridge soon. We don’t know exactly how much time she has; it could be weeks or possibly months.

She has a large cancerous tumor in her mouth. The only treatment options would involve surgery and/or chemotherapy, both of which would be very taxing on Misty, extremely expensive, and not even guaranteed to work. As such, we have decided to forgo treatment and keep her as comfortable as possible while we can.

For the moment, her symptoms are mildish and manageable. She’s not really in pain, just uncomfortable. The tumor makes it difficult to eat (but she still has a great appetite!), so we have had to switch her to wet food and will potentially have to switch to a fully liquid diet. She drools a lot! (She still cleans herself, but it’s just not super effective). So we have trimmed her hair down and started occasionally putting her in shirts because she gets drool all over herself.

We are hoping to raise money for supplies and meds to make her more comfortable as well as vet visits and end-of-life expenses when the time comes. Any funds received will go first to the purchasing of supplies and then to paying down our Care Credit card. Care Credit is specifically for veterinary expenses. We consistently make the monthly payments but currently still have a balance from when our other cat, Effy, suddenly passed in the spring. By paying down the balance, we will have more funds available on the card specifically for Misty’s vet bills.

Supplies we’re looking to get include:

* Wet food

* Kitten formula

* Vitamin and calorie supplements

* CBD tincture

* Pain meds

* Bathing wipes

* Oral care water additive

* More shirts

* Etc.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Misty is such a sweet cat. She is my baby and means the world to me. I just want her last stages of life to be as painless and comfortable as possible. Thank you
