Misty will be heading out of the country for cancer treatment on August 31! She feels 100% sure this is where she is supossed to go. She will be receiving advanced, science-based treatments that are not available to her here in the US. Cancer treatment is expensive and Misty's life is worth every penny! Please make a donation to help pay a portion of this treatment. Being that it is out of the country, we do not expect insurance will cover any of this. If you don't like gofundme, you can donate via Zelle to Misty Heath / 8179663738. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Misty's journey began last September. She had stomach pain and some wierd health issue since our Dad dad passed away about a year prior. Doctors assured her it was grief, that she was completlely healthy. The pain got so bad Misty finaly went to the ER. They told here there that she was fine, take alaxative and go home. She insisted she was not fine and had to fight to get tests run. The scans showed Misty had stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to her liver, lungs and lymph nodes. She was shocked; everyone was shocked.
Misty started the standard cancer treatment - chemo - and it seemed to be very effective. We were all hopeful. She did 12 rounds of "Big Gun" chemo, pretty much the strongest stuff they can give you. The chemo was hard on her but Misty was a champ and made her way through the treatments. Half-way through, it looked like it was working and looked like she would be cancer free at the end of the treatments. Misty had surgery to remove the tumor in her colon, and they had to remove 12" of her colon. The scans post treatment showed she still had significant tumors in her liver and her lungs were actually worse.
Misty has sought second, third, and fouth opinions. She has even been to MD Anderson and they told her the same things the other Dr's told her- not a candidate for surgery or radiation, chemo won't be able cure her but they can try to extend her life with chemo- and subsequently she will feel like crud because of the chemo. This is not what Misty wants.
If you know Misty, you know she is fierce and she is a fighter. She is not going to accept that answer and refuses to take chemo the rest of her life. Misty has spent months researching effective alternative treatments. She has started Joe's Protocol.Y ou can read al about if at mycancerstoryrocks.com. Yes, it is based on a dog dewormer and yes, it has shown to be so effective that have opened up a trial locally for its treatment on colon cancer. We have high hopes that this will elliminate her cancer cells.
Misty will be combining this with the cancer tratements at Hope4Cancer. They have designed a very intensive treatment plan including hyperthermia (cancer cells are not stable at high temps), Sono therapy (I personally have had this therapy for an injury, and though I was skeptical, it worked wonders), etc. Some treatments work to cut the blood supply to the tumors, others work to reset your immune system. Misty is very excited about this treatment plan.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She will be out of the county for 22 days of treatment initially with a plan for follow-ups. We are praying and hoping for complete remission for Misty.
