"You need to get your wife's stuff together, she's not going to make it," a doctor told Jeremy Brown 16 years ago. The doctors didn't know what disease his wife Misty had, but they told Jeremy that she had only weeks to live.
Misty Brown had noticed a bullseye insect bite on her arm. Soon she began experiencing migraine headaches, fainting spells, and even stroke-like symptoms.
She went from doctor to doctor and even had $50,000 worth of tests at Mayo Clinic. They still didn't know what was wrong with her, but put her on antibiotics that ravished her body. Things went from bad to worse. Her kidneys and liver began failing, and they expected her to die.
She has such a drive to live. "She has a God-given perseverance," says her mom, Marcy Mills. "She just keeps pressing on and pressing on, and God just gives her that strength."
Misty found a Lyme specialist in another state, and the doctor discovered that she had contacted Cardiac Lyme disease, a debilitating illness that eats at the lining of the heart caused by a tick bite.
By the grace of God, Misty and Jeremy found alternative treatment to help her, and it worked. It wasn't a cure, but it renewed her zest for life and ability to do things. Misty was able to enjoy life again and to care for their then-toddler daughter again.
Now, Misty's baby girl is now 18; and despite the fact that doctors told Misty she'd not be able to have any more children because of what the Lyme had done to her body, God gave them a son 5 years ago.
Unfortunately, Misty's horrible Lyme symptoms have flared up again. She needs more of the same alternative medical treatments that will help her to get back to health, and to where she can care for her active 5-year-old.
But insurance doesn't pay for these alternative Lyme treatment she needs, and it will cost $8,900. Their source of income has been drastically affected because of COVID and Misty still needs treatment. Will you please help this wife and mother? We hope to raise the money in the next 2 weeks so she can quickly get the help she needs.
