Misty Watkins was a bright light, wonderful human, and the kind of person we could all hope to be more like. She taught English at Grafton High School, and anyone who spent five minutes in her classroom or listened to her talk about her work could see how much she loved her students. She had a gift for seeing each student as an individual, for noticing what made them different, and building on it. Her Senior Memory Book project was a perfect example of that.

Misty recently passed away, and those who knew her are trying to find a way to carry her forward. This scholarship, created in her name, will go to a graduating Grafton High School senior who plans to become a teacher, with preference given to a student who wants to teach English. This fund will go directly toward that scholarship, awarded each year to a student who reflects the qualities that made Misty's teaching so meaningful: genuine care for kids, belief in their potential, and a commitment to meeting them where they are. The hope is that this becomes a small but lasting way for Misty's impact on Grafton to keep multiplying, one future teacher at a time.
