Misti's Brain Surgery

Hi! My name is Julie McDaniel and I am fundraising for my dear friend, Misti Sparks. On August 21 (one day after her 46th birthday), Misti will undergo surgery to remove a tumor from her brain. Currently, images of the tumor show that it is creating a blockage for the cerebrospinal fluid from going into the spinal cord. All doctors are in agreement that the chances of the tumor being cancerous are 50/50. It will be biopsied after it is removed from Misti's brain. The surgery itself should last 4+ hours. After surgery, Misti will be monitored in the ICU to ensure no blood clots or spinal fluid leakage. Then she will continue to be monitored in the hospital for a few days before recovering at home for an additional 4+ weeks. That is all assuming all goes well and as planned. After the results of the biopsy come back, next steps will be figured out.

Misti is a true servant of those around her. To know her is truly to love her! Her joy and love for the Lord continues even in the darkest of times. She has been a great source of encouragement to me and countless others. Even while receiving treatment for her leukemia years ago, she continued to faithfully serve in nursery and other ministries to bless others around her.

The financial burden of any surgery is great and this one is no exception. Between brain surgery, ICU, hospital stays, and 4 weeks off from work, in addition to previous MRIs to get here and follow up appointments, the bills will truly start to add up. We are hoping to be a blessing to Misti and Allen and provide some peace of mind in this time of stress and uncertainty by lifting at least some of the financial burden from them.
