Ace desperately needs eye surgery and needs our help. He is estimated to be around 5 years old and has probably lived his whole life on the streets.
Who knows how long hes had this condition for.
I spotted him some weeks ago on my colony feeding route with terrible green goo seeping out of his eyes and looking quite dirty and unwell. I suspected he might have cat flu/ upper respiratory infection and knew he needed to see a vet asap.
With the help of Sheryl Smith from Animal Arc Rescue i trapped him Sunday night ready to be dropped off at 8am Monday to the vet organised by Sheryl.
The plan was to get him sedated, health checked and blood work done.
He tested positive for FIV which is always a concern for street toms but not a death sentence. It meant he needed to come into care and not be returned to the street.
His health and eye check revealed he has double entropian meaning his eyelids are rolling inwards anf his eyelashes on both eyes are growing the wrong way irritating him so much its painful to open his eyes.
Its not fair. Hes miserable.
This is the cause of the green goo and why he cant open his eyes normally. It causes horrendous pain and the irritation on his cornea can cause eye ulcers:
This must be corrected by surgery and is quite urgent.
The estimated cost for this is $1200- 1400. He was also found to have really high glucose which could be stress but could mean he also has diabetes. His bloods will need to be done again ($180) during this surgery and our fingers will be crossed he was just stressed on Monday.
He was desexed during his first vet visit but will need to be vaccinated ($45) during his eye surgery.
We desperately need donations so Ace can get his surgery for both eyes, full blood panel to double check his glucose levels and his first vaccination. Who knows how long he has been suffering on the street but ive promised him i will get him all fixed up and pain free.
He deserves so much better and is absolutely miserable barely being able to open his eyes
Thank you
