Missy's Mobility Challenges - Multiple Sclerosis
Donation protected
My sister, Lateesha Ursery, better known as “Missy,” was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2002 at the height of her career. Unfortunately, shortly after that, she had to retire from her dream job, became wheelchair-bound, and went through a divorce. Heartbroken and jobless, she struggled to adjust to this new life dependent on others for care, yet she maintained her loving, patient, and angelic spirit.
After a lot of convincing, my sister left California and came to Nebraska, only to realize that she needed transportation to her day-filled appointments throughout the week.
She set out to strengthen her muscles to attend driver rehabilitation class to learn to operate a handicap-accessible automobile. In true Missy’s spirit, she works hard at physical therapy and exercises at home.
Missy took the class and passed with flying colors. Missy was on top of the world that day, and rightfully so. It was devastating to learn only a couple of weeks later that all her hard work would be in vain if she didn’t have a handicap accessible car within weeks to solidify her license from permit status. Missy is a living example of God’s favor! She makes the most of every day, lives life to the fullest, shows gratefulness for everything she has and is loving support for everyone. After doing some research, it appears the cost of a handicap accessible van that can store her motorized chair and accommodate her needs will cost about $45,000. Missy is on a fixed income; thus, $45,000 seems impossible. I am seeking donations to make her DREAM a REALITY.
God places us on unique paths. We, therefore, sometimes become products, symbols, if you will, of whatever we withstand in that path. So let me take you on a journey.

Debilitating for some, yet a Delightful social butterfly,
Unrelenting, yet Unwavering in her pursuit of happiness.
Restricting but Resolute in her quest for education,
Painful, yet a Pleasure to Ever Encounter.
Double Vision, Double the View of God’s Beauty,
Depressed yet Driven, Inflammatory yet Infectious.
Blindness, hardly, the Endless Path can be seen by all.
A journey with MS has been traveled by many; some become victims, others products, but few become symbols. Do you see?
The journey takes you on the path of who you were in retrospect,
who you are at present, and who you aspire to be. Will you let your life stop on the road blocked by MS?
Will you run back to the path you have already taken, trying to be who you used to be, or will you hold steadfast to God’s unchanging hand and continue down the path of life to be who you are supposed to be?
People fear MS, they wallow in its despair, but all I know of MS is that which is Pure, Beautiful, and Innocent. Scholars can say what they will – but – MS is more than what they understand because God has his hand in it. Senses and organs may be forsaken, but inner spirit and faith can never be taken.
Please pay attention; MS affects everyone she touches.
Do you know MS? Do you know My Sister?
Please help be a blessing to My Sister, Lateesha Ursery (aka Missy). Please donate any amount you can so we may purchase an automobile that will give her a sense of independence and dignity that Multiple Sclerosis is trying to rob her of. Thank You! ~ Kimberly Norman-Collins
