In memory of brother Chris McKenzie
Déductible des impôts
For my birthday, will you help me and many others remember my brother Christopher, by helping to fund the scholarship he established before he died?
When my baby brother Christopher was 8 years old, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor called medulloblastoma, which is a tumor that occurs at the brain stem. He had surgery and was treated with radiation. He was in remission for almost nine years. During those 9 years, he had a difficult time adjusting to school life. The cancer treatments caused some learning disabilities, and he didn’t quite fit in the the large public school setting. My parents decided to enroll him in Community Christian School which really changed Christopher’s life. He now fit in. He made an amazing group of friends, (They called themselves the fab 4). They were supportive of each other, and they loved Chris for who he was….quirky, funny, loyal and incredibly loving. Just before his 17th birthday, he began getting headaches and my parents feared the worse. It was confirmed the tumor had returned. His friends and his school community rallied around him while he tried to fight the cancer for the second time. Shortly before his death, Chris wanted to give back to the school community that he loved so much. He asked my parents to create an endowment to the school in his name…..The Chris McKenzie Endowment.
The Chris McKenzie Endowment awards a scholarship annually to a student at Community Christian School who exemplifies the Christian values by which Chris lived. He lived his life to the fullest in the small amount of time he had. He believed in helping and accepting everyone.
To honor Christopher on the anniversary of his passing (May 8th) and for my birthday (May 5th), I have, with the help of Community Christian school, created a fundraiser for Christopher’s endowment. I would love to keep his memory alive through the scholarship fund he created before his death.
Thank you for helping! Our goal is $10,000, which would fund $500 in scholarships a year, every year, in Chris' memory.
