Mellissa (Missy) Ann Jones is first and foremost ferocious in every sense of the word. She loves fiercely, is momma bear to all. “Anyone who [knows] Missy love[s] her.....even the hardest hearts [are] softened by her laugh, hilarious comments on the human condition and her deeply caring personality. She has helped so many thru so much…” She was… is… a gift to the world in that way.
The night before this nightmare began one of her daughters, Jennifer Jones, saw that she was online and called her at two in the morning asking why she was still up. She was laughing catching-up with friends. She has so many of them! We are all attracted to her vivacious, bombastic personality.
Her youngest daughter Ashley Spradlin is her neighbor and Linda Jones, her oldest, lives in-town; to say they were close would be a complete understatement.
She also managed to ring her son Craig the night before.
I cannot just sit here and write about the mother and friend Missy is without boasting about the absolute gem of a grandma she is to the multitude of grandchildren she has. She spoils every grandchild with presents… and love… and play. On her days off, you’d think she’d kick up her feet and relax. No! Far from it! She often has 4 to 5 grandchildren sleeping over all varying ages from infants to 12-year-olds. You know that the level of energy required to host multiple toddlers is enormous! And the love you must have for them must be even higher! There was not a free day that she was not thinking of her grandchildren Alyssa Estrella, Victoria Jones, Ariah Spradlin, Rigo Jones, Wyatt Schenfeld, Damian Jones-Rosas, Emilio Estrella, Dakota Schenfeld, Elijah Newberg, and Gracie Weiler. Her unbounded love made her a favorite with the kids. We just don’t have the heart to break it to them.
I want you to know who Missy is, how much she is loved, but none of this is going to convey that. All the memories you have with her will; they will sustain us through this incredibly difficult time.
Missy woke up in the morning of June 16th and collapsed. Her hypertension caused a brain hemorrhage which has resulted in her currently being on life support. Her scans have been analyzed by neurologist from Eugene, Portland, and Corvallis. They all advice that we let her go, this is incomprehensible. Too sudden to process the gravity and immensity of what we are being advised.
I am writing all of you on behalf of her daughters Linda, Jennifer and Ashley and her son Craig. We want to give Missy the memorial she deserves, to honor her memory and say our last goodbyes. We are asking for donations to go towards covering the funeral expenses for a soul that has touched so many lives. If by some miracle she defies doctor’s expectations than all the funds will go toward her recovery. Prayers for a miracle is all we have left; all other options have been exhausted.
