We adopted our new pup, Miss Maisie
Hi. I am Tremia Appling and I am raising funds for the adoption and training of a service dog. On November 1st my service dog of 13 years, Buddy, passed away. Even though we are brokenhearted and still grieving over our loss, each day is getting harder and harder for me to be without my service dog.
Unfortunately, we have found out the waiting lists for service animals are over 2 years long and then it cost upwards of $15,000.00 to get a fully trained dog. So we are going with plan B. We are looking to adopt a puppy around one year old and train her with a local service dog trainer.
I have Lupus and I am in a wheelchair. I have lung disease and am on oxygen 24/7. Fifteen vertebrae in my back compression fractured and I am unable to bend, reach, grab or turn. These are only a few reasons of why I need a service dog.
A poodle or even a "doodle" are highly intelligent dogs and can train easily. They are also hypoallergenic which would be great for my lungs. There are dogs out there right now that we could get but the cost is $1,500.00. We also have found a trainer who we will meet with weekly for service dog training and her fees are $100 an hour and we are looking at approximately $3,000.00 for training.
Please help fund us in getting our next beautiful service dog. She will be trained to retrieve objects that I drop, help open doors, help with my mobility issues and medical alert. Plus all the love and companionship is priceless. This will give me back freedom that I lost when I lost Buddy. Please help us by donating. I need to get my next wonderful service animal and start training ASAP. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
