Missi's Fight Against Breast Cancer

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lauren and I’m a coworker of Missi Dahm. A few of us coworkers have been putting our heads together to try and think of a way to help Missi and her family through this difficult time.

In February 2020, Missi was diagnosed with Triple Negative Ductal Carcinoma, found during a routine mammogram. This is the most aggressive type of breast cancer. As you can imagine, this news was absolutely heartbreaking for all of those who know and love Missi. She fought a long, hard battle and won! Only to find out this past November during a follow-up checkup, Missi got the horrible news that the breast cancer has returned…

After the diagnosis in November, her team of three doctors had to put their heads together to come up with a new plan to attack this cancer, once again. The plan would be to do 12 rounds of chemo (Taxol and Carboplatin). Then take a break for a couple of weeks before starting Doxorubicin (AKA the “Red Devil” or strongest type of chemotherapy for breast cancer ever invented) and Cytoxan followed by radiation and surgery. Missi made it through 11 of the 12 rounds of chemo before having to stop due to numbness in her fingers and toes.

As if a person can’t possibly get any more bad news… Missi got the horrendous and deeply defeating news that the 11 rounds of chemo treatments did absolutely nothing to shrink the tumor, in fact, the tumor continued to grow. Missi got a two-week break from chemo before starting the “Red Devil” and Cytoxan. About one week in, she developed an infection and was hospitalized for three days to help break the fever and get her blood counts back on track.

Missi will do the next round of chemo and have another MRI (the third one this year) to see if these new chemo treatments are working. If they are, she will have two more rounds, each two weeks apart followed by surgery. If they aren’t working, surgery will be scheduled for sooner rather than later. Following surgery, she may be facing more rounds of chemo and radiation after the healing process. As this is a rare situation with the chemo not working as it should, her team of doctors are really having to think out of the box to battle the breast cancer this time around. They are treating it as aggressively as her body allows.

Please consider contributing to support Missi and her family through her treatments as she will need to take a considerable amount of time off work (6-8 weeks) fighting her battle. Any money received will help with medical bills, monthly insurance coverage, & living expenses during treatment and recovery. Let’s get our girl healthy and back on track for the beautiful, healthy life that is ahead. Missi is a true warrior and I know she will continue to kick cancer’s butt. Please continue to keep her in your prayers. Thank you for your time and consideration. ♥
