Em's Mission Trip to Marseille!

In Europe, churches are seen more as landmarks to visit than houses of worship. The religious landscape in France is dim. In 1952, 27% of the French population were weekly Catholic church attendees; in 2006, less then 5% of the population did. According to the Eurobarometer Poll in 2010, only 27% of French citizens responded that "they believe there is a God." An October 2006 CSA poll addressed solely to Catholics established that 17% of French Catholics didn't believe in God. Among the believers, most (79%) described God as a "force, energy, or spirit" and only 18% as a personal god.
Ever since I was a child, I've had a heart for French culture. I'm not sure exactly how it started, but as long as I can remember I've been obsessed with the history, language, and food of this beautiful country. I got to study abroad in Paris during college and experience the culture, and religious sentiments, firsthand. As I've grown in my personal walk with God, I've begun to feel that He would have me go on missions to the country I've loved for so long.
I have the opportunity to do just that: this spring, April 26 through May 3, I will join up with the Hammersmith Church out of London, England, to go on mission to help an Every Nation church plant in Marseille, France. This church was just started in September of 2014 by Matt Rasch and his wife Christy. They recently acquired a café in the heart of the city which is also used as a culture center to serve the community in practical ways, host seminars, hold prayer and worship meetings, and arts soirées. On the mission trip, I will be able to help out with administrative things at the church, give English lessons for the children of Marseille by reading them Bible stories, and evangelize around the city.
I am super excited to see what God is going to do in my life and in other people's lives through this ministry! I do, however, need your help. I will be flying first to London to meet up with the group and then we will fly together to Marseille. I will need to raise around $1,650 for flights, room & board, and meals before April 20th. Please partner with me in prayer and fundraising as I launch on this journey - if you or anyone you know would like to help, please give them my contact information!
