Hi everybody! My name is Paula Millsaps. I have the distinct honor of being mom to two beautiful teenagers. My children and I are survivors of many types of abuse, and by the grace of God are now able to help other people become survivors themeselves!
As the Founding Director of Joel 2 Missions, Inc., I have the pleasure of stewarding a dream to have healing homes available for people experiencing different types of abuse. The first community we would like to service is women and children who are coming out of domestic abuse. We have been blessed to find and secure a 48,000 square foot building situated on 8.6 acres of land to open as a facility for this purpose by June of this year...right here in South-western PA. We now need your help to raise funds to cover the costs of closing, title work, insurance, and utilities. All funds donated will be used for those purposes, and we need them FAST as the closing will be in the next two to four weeks!
Words cannot even express to you how much this means to me, because it is not about me at all. It's about all the women and children who need a safe place to live, heal, and grow. Phone calls and applications come in daily for people looking for homes for a woman and 5 children, or a woman and a newborn, or a woman and 7 children...unfortunately we had nowehere for them to go. This problem will be solved very soon!
Guys, domestic violence is a real issue that contributes to overall systemic poverty. If we can bring these women and children into a safe, supportive, healing environment and empower them through counseling and education, we could see an end to repeat occurrences, increased performance in the community, and more well adapted healthy neighbors.
We at Joel 2 Missions are thankful for all who have given and to all of you who will contribute! We consider it a partnership--all of us working together to bring hope, healing, and a future to the hurt and broken of our community! Together we CAN make a difference!
