The Play.Story.Eat Mission Experience is a model created by Daybreak International. Daybreak International exists to initiate and develop friendships among the marginalized and forgotten peoples of the Americas in order to encourage and promote transformational relationships with Jesus, and multiply faith communities that reflect the love of God in Unity.
In Guatemala and Honduras they are promoting a mission to reach Cowboys and Cowgirls (who are not welcome in local churches there) for Christ, and help them start Christian Rancher groups and Cowboy Churches that rapidly reproduce across Central America.
During recent mission trips with the Cowboys and Ranchers, the women there have expressed a desire to organize their own ministry model to reach women and girls in the ranching community by applying a model of equine assisted learning.
When I first heard of this desire, my ears and my heart perked up on full alert! I, also, have a strong desire to develop a mission centered equine assisted learning program. That is my ultimate passionate purpose, and feel that it is a calling on my life. With over 15 years experience and learning within serving an equine assisted learning program, over 20 years experience and learning in horse behavior, and a lifetime of passion for horses and people, the mission opportunity seemed the perfect opportunity to put my knowledge and experience to good use!
However, since I left my daily grind in IT just over 6 months ago to pursue this passion, and seek a vocation more in alignment with my purpose (a "tent making" vocation), that would enhance, rather than inhibit living my life with purpose, my financial ability to make this trip is non-existent.
My prayer is to be on the leading edge of this mission to empower the women in Guatemala to build their ministry with horses. If that is God's desire for me, then I know that He will provide the way. As I continue to work towards reconstructing my vocation to support my purpose, if it is His desire to answer "Yes" to this prayer, then I will rejoice with Thanksgiving and Joy for the opportunity to serve!
