Help Rup Karki's Mission

Nepali community, friends, and supporters in the USA and around the world are still in disbelief, shocked, and saddened by the untimely demise of world-class powerlifter Rup Karki at the age of 52. Mr. Karki passed away due to a sudden cardiac arrest on January 21st, 2021 in Nepal.
He immigrated to the US and had been living in the Washington DC metro area for more than one and half-decade. He was a successful self-employed entrepreneur based in Virginia and a happy family man. Nonetheless, he never gave up his inner desire to become an elite powerlifter. He defied odds and hurdles and dedicated his life to achieve what he wanted!!! He was a multiple title holder in the World Powerlifting championships and pride of Nepal. He made his recognition as a world-class Nepali American powerlifter, community activist, and social leader. He was a co-chair of the sports committee NRNA USA.
He recently moved back to Nepal with a dream to popularize powerlifting sport and help Nepali athletes. He was on a mission to aspire Nepali powerlifter, transfer his international experience and skills, and produce Nepali powerlifters who could compete and succeed in the international powerlifting championship.
We all knew that he had been selflessly providing training and logistics to players in preparation for the upcoming National Championship, which would eventually pave a pathway to participate in the World Championship to be held in Moscow, Russia. Unfortunately, he is no longer among us to continue his mission; however, his dream and legacy are still with us. Please contribute to this fundraising event to continue his mission with the help of his family and friends. Your contribution will be utilized to his dream project, i.e., to help powerlifters in Nepal as well as create a memorial champion tournament in recognition of his dedication and achievements. शक्तित्तोलनको (Powerlifting) माध्यमबाट नेपाल र नेपालीको नाम बिश्वमा चिनाउन सफल भएका अन्तरास्ट्रिय खेलाडी रूप कार्कीको मातृभूमि नेपालमा यही जनवरी २१, २०२१ मा हृदयाघात (हर्टअट्याक) का कारण कहिले पनि नफर्किने गरी बिदाई भएको दुखद खबर हामी धेरैलाई अबगतै छ। अमेरिकाको डिसी महानगर क्षेत्रमा करिव डेढ दशक देखि बस्दै आएका नेपाली मूलका अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय चर्चित भारत्तोलक कार्कीले नेपाल, नेपाली, अमेरिका तथा अमेरिकीहरु सबैलाइ गौरव गर्ने स्थान बनाई ईतिहास लेख्न सफल भएका छन्।
अमेरिकालाई कर्म थलों बनाए पनि जीवनको बाँकी समय आफुले खेलेको खेलमा आर्जन गरेको सफलतालाई नेपालमा नेपालीहरूलाई प्रशिक्षण दिने र त्यसता प्रतिस्पर्धामा नेपालीहरूलाई अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय पदक दिलाउन योगदान गर्ने मनसायले वहाँ अक्टोबर २०२० मा नेपाल जानु भएकोथियो। तर वहाँको असामयिक निधनले वहाँको नेपालमा पावरलिफ्टीङ्ग को बिकाश गर्ने र आफूमा भएको शीप मातृभूमिलाई दिउ भन्ने सपनाअधुरै रह्यो। यधपी, वहा भौतिक रुपले हामी बीच नरहनु भएतापनि वहाँकी धर्म पत्नी शोभा कार्कि र परिवारका अन्य सदस्यले वहाँको सपनालाई अघिबढाउन दृढ़ संकल्प गरेको र सो प्रयाशमा सबै शुभ चिन्तकको सदासयता र सहयोग को अपेक्षा सहित गोफन्डमी सहयोग खाता खोलिएको छ। हामी यो शोकको घडीलाई मातृभूमिलाई केही योगदान गरेर वहाको सपना लाई थोरै मात्र भएपनि साकार पार्न सबैको हातेमालोको लागि आव्हान गर्दछौ।
