My Story:
Living with a combination of complex, chronic conditions present unpredictable challenges every single day. I often have to give up valuable time with my family to save my body from having to pay for it later. My goal is to be able to spend more quality time with my family. These illnesses drastically impact my physical safety, autonomy and mental well being:
Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome – This causes sudden, dangerous spikes in my heart rate and severe dizziness, making simple tasks like standing a fainting risk. There are many more daily symptoms that come from this illness as well.
Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome – A genetic connective tissue disorder that causes frequent joint instability, chronic pain and high risk of injuries. Like POTS, there are many more daily symptoms that arise as well.
Psychiatric Challenges – Managing severe panic attacks that can strike without warning, making public outings overwhelming and isolating.
Chronic Migraines – a complex neurological condition defined by experiencing headaches on 15 or more days per month for more than three months, with at least 8 of those days meeting the criteria for a full migraine attack.
I already have my best friend by my side. Her name is Chevelle, and I truly believe she has the heart, loyalty, and potential to become an incredible service dog for me. Rather than searching for a puppy, this journey is about giving Chevelle the opportunity to learn the skills she needs to become the reliable medical service dog I need. Her temperament, health, natural abilities, and willingness to work will continue to be carefully considered as we move forward together.
With Chevelle already by my side, we can jump right into the beginning stages of training with Coastal Service Dogs. Starting this journey with her will allow us to build upon the bond and trust we already share while developing a strong foundation of obedience, confidence, socialization, public-access skills, and the task-training skills she will need to assist me. This will be a long journey, but I know that every step we take together will bring us closer to greater safety, independence, and freedom.
Chevelle isn't just a dog I'm hoping will become my service dog—she is already my best friend. Now I'm working toward giving her the training and education necessary to turn the potential I see in her into reliable medical assistance. Coastal Service Dogs will be there to guide us throughout this journey, helping Chevelle learn the specific, high-level tasks she needs to perform so she can become the dependable partner I can rely on when I need her most.

Cardiac Alert – Sensing critical heart rate changes before they happen so that I can sit down safely and avoid fainting or falling.
Example: March of 2025, I passed out, fell down and tore my ACL, partial MCL and meniscus. Causing me to have surgery in April 2025, then another in October 2025.
Training a multi task service dog requires hundreds of hours of expert guidance, specialized public access training and rigorous testing. Because she needs to handle scent alerts, mobility support and psychiatric tasks – the financial investment is significant.
Our fundraising goal is $9,500. Every dollar raised will go towards:
Tuition and fees for specialized service dog training organization.
Advanced task training sessions (scent work, stability work and public access).
Custom medical gear, including specialized mobility harness and training vests.
Ongoing health clearances and specialized veterinary care required for working dogs.
