Mission Onyx

Hi everyone, my name is Connor Burch.

I’m creating this fundraiser for my mom and her beloved cat, Onyx. Thank you so much for taking the time to read his story, it means the world to us.

My mom has always had a deep, almost magnetic connection with animals. It’s hard to explain, but they’re naturally drawn to her. One day, she called me wondering why the universe had never brought her a kitten, and that very night, Onyx appeared. I truly believe she manifested him. He’s everything she ever dreamed of in a cat: affectionate, comforting, and always able to brighten someone’s day even while in pain.

Right now, Onyx is struggling. His nose has become painfully swollen, scabbed, and infected. At one point, it swelled to the size of a grape before rupturing. My mom has already taken him to Belmont Veterinary Clinic multiple times, spending hundreds of dollars on cultures and biopsies. The results came back negative for both fungus and bacteria, leaving us without clear answers.

To get a proper diagnosis and determine how to treat him, Onyx needs a CT scan— something that unfortunately costs $2,500.

Some might question spending that kind of money on a cat. But if you know my mom, you know why. She’s a single mother who has always done everything on her own—but this time, she needs help.
