In October 2023 we moved back out to Zambia full-time and spend most of our time volunteering with a Zambian charity called Mission Geeks.
Mission Geeks works with existing rural missions and grass roots projects in the fields of health, education & conservation. We utilise skilled personnel, through our network of ‘geeks’, providing practical, technical and creative support and training, by means of site visits, project management or remote troubleshooting.
As an organisation we currently offer assistance in the following areas; plumbing & electrical infrastructure, access to reliable and sustainable sources of water and electricity, website design and creative content, and maintaining and fixing medical and ancillary equipment.
Mission Geeks operates a Cessna-182 aircraft, enabling us to reach very remote facilities in a fraction of the time it would take to drive. This also ensures that we can make use of specialist “geeks” who are only able to offer limited time on a project.
We have plans for 2025, to build a permanent hangar structure, with offices, storage and a workshop, as well as completing works on a shared air strip, which would improve operational efficiency and security for the organisation.
We are running this gofundme to raise funds specifically for the preparation (grading, levelling, cambering and putting drainage in) and licensing of the airstrip. Any contributions, however small or large would be greatly appreciated.
You can find out more about Mission Geeks here or watch the video above to see a recent project trip.
NB Any surplus funds will be designated towards other operational costs of the organisation.
Thanks again!
