Five years ago, Megan Burns was diagnosed with a life threatening brain tumor. She was in 4th grade and was not expected to live. After multiple brain surgeries and thousands of prayers, she would be allowed to come home, if that home would support her medical needs. Unfortunately, her current home was not adequate and she was going to have to be taken to a home...away from her family. The East Cooper community got together and raised enough money to purchase a new mobile home for Megan and her family. She has been living there happily since and is now in 9th grade at Wando High School. While her mother struggles to pay all monthly bills and takes Megan to her many therapy appointments, remaining funds have been used to pay insurance and taxes. The Mission for Megan fund is now depleted, and insurances and taxes are due. We all worked so hard to get her this home, and we want to keep that home insured. Insurance rates rise every year, and at present insurance and taxes cost just over $2500 each year. This community has done so much for this family, but we are asking for your support again so that we can ensure they will always have a home in the event of a disaster that takes the home from them. Please help us replenish some funds in the Mission for Megan account. All funds raised will be deposited directly into the Mission for Megan account at South State Bank. Donations can also be made directly to the account at South State Bank. Insurance premiums and Charleston County taxes will be paid by checks written by Christy Crawford directly from the Mission for Megan account. We appreciate your support and we thank you for any assistance you can give us!
