Mission for Marty
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Melissa Ralabate. I would like to tell you about my husband Marty Ralabate and our Mission for Marty. Marty is a loving husband of 25 years, dedicated father of 5, and a proud grandfather of 6. In April of 2016 Marty was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer called Polycythemia Vera. This type of cancer produces too many red blood cells and can cause highly dangerous blood clots to the heart and brain.
Unfortunately, in 2020 at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Marty’s cancer mutated into another form of cancer called myelofibrosis. This cancer causes your bone marrow to turn into scar tissue. Bone marrow holds your stem cells (the mother of all cells) which regulates your red cells, white cells, platelets, and hemoglobin. Marty’s body can no longer regulate his cells and a bone marrow transplant is in his near future.
The toll this cancer has taken on Marty has left him unable to work after a career of 47 years. This decision was one of Marty’s most difficult to make because of how much love he has for his clients and the unconditional love Marty has received for many years from his clients. His infectious smile warmed many as they arrived for their appointment!
My Mission for Marty is to raise funds to relieve the financial burden that is inevitable with this next chapter. Any amount of money that you can donate is greatly appreciated. If you’re unable to donate please share this post with your family, friends, and community. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this, and your support.
My love runs extremely deep for my husband, Marty. My family and I will stand strong, side by side with Marty on his continued journey.
With much love and gratitude, the Ralabate Family
