Miss Demi's journey to recovery
I am a neglect rescue case from Los Angeles California. I have a severe skin disease, demodex + and overgrown nails. When I am done with my treatments I can be adopted out to a forever home. Finding out what is wrong with me and the treatments will be the expensive part. Please help me.

Hi my name is Miss Demi. Dr's think I am 1 year old. I am a Chihuahua/Miniature Shorthaired Dachshund/Pekingese/Pomeranian mix (DNA Tested). Full DNA report will be given to my adopted family as well as my complete health records. Here is my story from my POV.

I was found in a field as a stray and I was sent to Carson Animal Shelter on April 5th 2017.

I am young and I am very sick. I needed to be out of the shelter by April 9th 2017. The shelter Dr tested my skin and I was positive for Demodex. There was no other interest in saving me and my time was up. They need to make room for healthy dogs.

I was placed on social media for some networking. A lady named Jacqueline saw a post and tagged Miss Gabriel Foundation.
MGF wanted to rescue me so a lady named Julie picked me up from the shelter on April 10th 2017. It cost MGF $115.00 to get me out of that shelter to save my life. I was taken to Jacqueline's house by several drivers. Thank you to the transporter Lucy for getting me to my first destination.

I saw a Dr on April 11th 2017. I need pain management. I am hurting to badly to wait to get to MGF to be seen and getting my on antibiotics sooner than later can't hurt either. I was given three days of pain and antibiotic till MGF can take me to their Drs.

I am in need of ongoing medical attention so MGF will take me too my new Dr to develop a treatment plan.
At MGF they will foster me and give me the 24/7 medical care I will need. They have a motto and it is "Giving a second chance to dogs who never had a first chance." MGF needs your help to make this happen.

I saw my Dr on April 13th 2017. It was my first real checkup visit set up a medical plan. Blood panel drawn to check for various issues and health overall. More blood work to test for heart-worm, Lyme and other various problems. X-rays were done on my chest and abdomen. Waiting for results on Monday for blood work results. My x ray is clear. I am also heartworm disease and lyme disease negative. My nails are overgrown. I have bacteria, fungus and yeast infections in my skin on almost half my body. My skin has lichenification and is covered in sores that bleed and ooze pus. I am missing most of my fur. I have kennel cough. I am unstable since my body lack muscles and am sore from the skin disease. My feet are swollen. My legs hurt from being swollen. Tapeworm was seen in my feces. I was sent home with many rx’s to help. I am anemic and high levels of protein in the blood indicating long term swelling in my body.

I saw a Dr on April 15th 2017. I need my second DA2PPV now. A rescue I came down with tested positive for parvo. This is an attempt to protect me if it is not to late plus Foster Mom will be quarantining the home and bleaching everything for a couple of weeks.

I saw my Dr on August 1st to check my leg out. Even though I am walking on it again the Dr feels some slight movement in my ACL so I need to get some rest and not play so hard for a while to allow it to heal. I was put on some anti-inflammatory to help.

I will get better but only under medical treatments. My Dr visits may be frequent, at first, due to my severe condition. Diagnosing can also be costly. I hope you can find it in your hearts and pocket books to please donate to my rehabilitation and recovery. 100% of these donations go into my care.

I did not want to get this sick. I wanted to be loved and cared for. My previous owners let me get this way. My medical bills will be ongoing during my treatments to get better.
