To all my dog/animal lover friends and family out there, hello.  My name is Rosy and I am creating this fundraiser for my dear friend Jeff (JT)’s dog Molly.  Molly is an almost 9 year old English Yellow Labrador Retriever with so much life in her, and about 2 months ago Molly started to show signs of rear limb weakness (i.e. dragging of the back nails, knuckling of the hind paws, and ataxia.)  Within 1.5 months Molly’s condition progressively worsened and was no longer able to use her hind limbs.  Jeff has been a great dad to his fur-baby by taking the necessary means to help Molly find a solution to her problem.  After extensive medical treatment which includes MRI, spinal taps, every necessary blood work etc, both here in Chicago and at the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Molly was found to be non-ambulatory paraparetic with significant extensor tone in her pelvic limbs.  An MRI revealed degeneration of the discs but too mild to cause her paralysis and didn’t explain the severity and progression of Molly’s neurological symptoms based on report. Unfortunately, since the neurologists/vets were not able to come up with a diagnosis, it is difficult to determine Molly’s prognosis.  They were able to rule out a mass or disc compression to the spinal cord nor does she require surgery.  Therefore, in order to help with Molly’s incoordination and weakness, she needs rehabilitation therapy which will consist of 8 weeks, 2x a week.  

Molly LOVED to walk and run and jump up whenever anyone visited her.  But it breaks our hearts to see her so immobile and dragging her rear-end along the floor and not even able to greet anyone who comes to the door, or go for her walks nor play ball for that matter.  Many of Jeff’s friends and mine have reached out asking what they can do to help and/ or donate to Molly’s cause.  

Jeff has exhausted all his financial resources and is still struggling  to pay previous medical bills.  I am asking for anyone to help whatever amount you can to help Molly get her normal life back as the playful dog she once was before this all happened.  Thank you sincerely for your help and generosity, it means so much to me and to Molly and her dad.  Rosy
