*TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK CHALLENGE: Help raise $500 for 2nd year elementary school music teacher, Zoe Kumagai, by May 18th! 100 lucky teachers will be chosen in the GoFundMe Teacher Appreciaion campaign to win $1000 if they can raise at least $500 on their GoFundMe.com page by May 18, 2017!
Zoe teaches general music at Veterans Elementary School in Chula Vista, California, the first music teacher there in ten years. She is part of an effort by the Chula Vista Elementary School District and the San Diego Youth Symphony to bring music education and other arts back into the classroom. She is an enthusiastic proponent for arts education in schools and in life. She works without her own classroom and travels from class to class with her ukulele and supplies. (Note: A uke is easier to carry than her main instrument, Double Bass.) Passion and enthusiasm is wonderful, supplies and instruments are better. In the 2 years she has been teaching, she has raised funds to purchase ukuleles for her school and started an after-school ukulele club. She will be training in the Orff approach this summer and is looking forward to incorporating movement and mindful breathing into her music lessons. Please help Miss Kumagai build an inventory of materials, music, and supplies to help her instruct each child. If she can reach $500, she will be eligible for a $1000 lottery by Gofundme. Please show her some love and $. Thank you.
