Miss Gena as so many of us lovingly know her has a tough road ahead . She and Christy are fighters. But fighters need support too. This GoFundMe will help offset medical bills and time off during this upcoming battle. Please join me in supporting these people who have loved and supported so many of us, and our children in their lives. Give if you can, and share often. I’ve never met two more loving and amazing people. Let’s show them, they are not alone
From Christy’s Facebook:
FRIENDS AND FAMILY We have something important to share. Please may we ask that you stop for a moment and read. We’ve known for a couple weeks but we have just been trying to process, to get our information and a plan together, and telling those closest, like our children.
Gena has Breast Cancer. She has Stage 2 Invasive ductal carcinoma grade 3 that has metastasized to her auxiliary lymph nodes. They have ordered her PET SCAN right away to see if it has spread to any other parts of her body as she has some concerning levels in her blood work and some other symptoms the doctor is concerned about. He is also taking into account her older half sister who passed away of the same cancer. So we belive Dr Hussain is really being proactive. We have a big fight ahead but she has alot more life to live!
The Plan:
She has a PET scan scheduled for Tuesday to see if it has spread or is a higher stage. She is going to be scheduled for a port to be placed for the chemo, possibly the end of this week. And meet with an chemo team for education and expectations.
They are wanting her to start chemo in 3 weeks or so. We will start hormone blockers . We will also see the surgeon next week and make a plan about what those options are. But a double mastectomy as well as a full hysterectomy are realistic because the cancer she has often will spread there as well. They are also doing genetics testing to make sure we have a clear picture of her cancer and all factors. He said it's agressive but she’s young and she can fight. So we will go at it aggressively. She will have 20 total weeks of chemo. First 8 weeks are once every 2 weeks and that will be the most aggressive drug combination. Then 12 more weeks of weekly. Radiation after that. Some where in there surgery. Just unsure when at this time. Once chemo starts she will be at high risk for infection so we will have to be pretty isolated. BUT please dont forget her. What covid taught me is that we can also be pretty creative in making connections to keep those we love safe. I ask you to do that- please reach out, connect. I want my sweet wife to feel the love of her friends and family in any form that can keep her safe and healthy but make her spirits high and happy. We believe that it will be love and support of others that will give her and us the strength to take on this enormous fight. This will be scary for her and us, hard, uncertain, and financially draining. But we are gonna fight with our whole being. With everything in us. We believe in science and spirituality and with those combined forces and all the people in our lives we can take this on. I ask you to send us positive energy, your prayers of love, support, and healing. Please send advice... please send suggestions... we are trying to learn everything we can, but this is a very unknown territory for us and we don't even know where to start. Being overwhelmed is an understatement.
We thank each and every one of you that play a role in our lives, and always wish you well reguardless of our differences. Yesterday things that seemed very big are so small now. Life is too short.
I ask today tomorrow and going forward you do that for her. Wish her well my friends.
