Hi, my name is Danielle, a recent graduate, and I adopted my Callie girl from NJ. She was rescued from a puppy mill in Millersburg, Ohio, where she was left for six months with livestock, no heat, or air conditioning and no vet care. When we rescued Callie, she was very sick and showed symptoms within hours of our adoption. She had a hacking cough, runny nose, sneezing and quickly became lethargic. She has been admitted to the hospital three times due a nasty puppy-mill strain of Bordatella and pneumonia - all preventable with proper vet care. My puppy is fighting for her life, this comes at a huge mental and financial expense. I wanted to do the right thing by rescuing and do not regret it. Puppy mills are legally able to euthanize unwanted dogs under the laws of the USDA, and Callie did not sell. This was likely her fate. I am raising funds to cover her hospital bills, which are up to $15,000, as I am trying my best to give her the best life and chance possible. The first time she ever experienced love and care was three weeks ago when we adopted her. She has already brought so much joy and love and deserves the best life possible. I wish I could rescue every single dog out there, because no dog deserves the life that puppy-mill dogs. I am a mental-health counselor and am hoping to train Callie to help people struggling with mental illness. I want to make a difference.
