Miscarriage - We Lost Our Baby

We miscarried on July 31st and lost Rufio’s little brother/sister. This has been terrifying.

I do not like to ask for help. I am just hoping to have any assistance spread our way with fingers crossed that my work and effort at the hospital working during COVID can inspire those who can to to pay it forward and assist in deductible insurance cost and fees due. This is not an excuse - we are ultimately left to pay the balances due.

The hard facts: On July 31st, 2020 - Ryan, Rufio, and myself had a miscarriage for our second child. We were only at the 8 week mark, but even then, we were completely traumatized and the effects of what has happened continue to this day. With the blunt honesty that it will continue on into the future as our mourning continues, denial and questions linger, and continuous battles of grief, loss, and acceptance.

That said..  here’s me hoping to have faith and blessings from others. I am an essential worker. I have worked since COVID stated and will continue to do so. This is my line of duty. I am only being hopeful with this GoFundMe. We just do not have the funds for the deductible and co-insurance for the ER visit and follow up care. We will be able to set up payment plans, but it would deter us from our financial goals that we have worked so hard for. Paying off a credit card debt and saving the down payment for a house purchase may be simple to some - but for us, it has been hard work and effort.. which will be wiped away by this.

I did go to the ER when this occurred where imaging, exams, and labs to check HCG levels took place. Additional labs and imaging are scheduled this week alongside a follow up OB visit. I am researching out through my work EAP program for (thankfully) a few free counseling visits.

I am not seeking anything additional outside of the patient-portion due for the emergency room visit, three lab copays, and two office/imaging visits.

Anything and all will help. I will continue to treat every patient I aide in clinic the same way prior to this - with respect, kindness, and hope they stay safe during this time. This will never change. I am only hoping that any help can be shifted our way. I hope that supplying others with love and dedication can bring happiness to our slightly broken family.

It will get better. I know this. It’s hard to ask for help, but here is hope.

Thank you all.

With prayers, appreciation, and hope,
Sabrina, Ryan, and Rufio
