Early in the morning on October 7th, Martin was on his way to his job as a maintenance worker when he was detained by ICE in DC. After many years living a peaceful, hard-working, faith-filled life in Takoma Park, it was only a matter of days before he was deported to Mexico. Martin's wife, 13-year-old son, and 19-year-old nephew have been left behind to find their footing in a reality in which they can no longer be together with Martin.

Martin's absence is felt in every way. His loving presence is now absent from their daily lives. He worked hard to provide for his family. Martin drove Mirian to her job in another county each day. Now, she is relying on ubers to travel to/from work, significantly reducing her already limited income at a time when she is reeling from the shock of her husband's rapid detention and deportation. Martin's son and nephew have lost their fishing companion and confidante. While this family figures out how to adjust to this new reality, their financial need is significant. They will use contributed funds for rent, medicine, etc.

Martin llevaba a Mirian a su trabajo en otro condado todos los días. Ahora, ella depende de Uber para ir y venir del trabajo, lo que reduce significativamente sus ya limitados ingresos en un momento en que aún se recupera del impacto de la repentina detención y deportación de su esposo. El hijo y el sobrino de Martin han perdido a su compañero de pesca y confidente. Mientras esta familia se adapta a esta nueva realidad, sus necesidades económicas son considerables.
