Miriam Nelken, beloved sister, aunt, and friend.

Hello, my name is Rachel and I'm fundraising on behalf of my Dad, Harry, to raise funds for my aunt Miriam's funeral and burial.

Our beloved Miriam passed away in Victoria, B.C. on May 7th, 2025, just weeks after being diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Her final wish was to be buried in her hometown of Winnipeg, near the graves of her parents at the Rosh Pina Cemetery. The funeral costs, including the transfer of her casket from Victoria to Winnipeg are $25,000 and we don't have the financial means to cover the full cost. That's why we've set up this fundraiser.

Born June, 13th, 1949 in Winnipeg, our Miriam shone like a star. A dedicated pharmacist, she practiced for over forty years, and spent three of those decades working in Victoria where she resided until her passing. While she worked as a pharmacist, Miriam's true passion was art. She studied at Emily Carr and her magnificent paintings are a testament to her artistic talent.
