Mirellita Estrella de Polit Fight for Health and Mobility

Hola, mi nombre es Alfonso Reyes Umpierrez y he tenido la bendición de conocer a Mirella Estrella de Polit, cariñosamente conocida como "Mirellita", durante más de 20 años a través de mi esposa, Cristina Polit, quien es sobrina de Mirellita. Hoy, me acerco a ustedes con una súplica sincera de apoyo para una mujer que significa mucho para nuestra familia.

Mirellita decidió someterse a una cirugía de reemplazo de rodilla para recuperar su movilidad y mejorar su calidad de vida. La cirugía inicialmente fue bien, pero el segundo día después de la operación, ocurrió una tragedia. Se formó un coágulo de sangre que viajó a su cerebro, causando un grave derrame cerebral. Estuvo inconsciente durante horas, lo que resultó en una parálisis en todo el lado derecho de su cuerpo, desde la cara hasta los pies. Además de esto, Mirellita también perdió su capacidad de hablar.

Aunque la cirugía de rodilla fue cubierta por el seguro, los tratamientos extensivos y continuos necesarios debido a estas complicaciones no lo están. Se comenzo fisioterapia en la clinica y le ha hecho bien pero aun falta mucho para retomar sus capacidades. Mirellita necesitará atención integral las 24 horas, que incluye enfermeras, terapeutas del habla, fisioterapeutas y varias acomodaciones, examenes y visitas médicas durante el próximo año. La carga financiera es inmensa.

Sus hijos—Ricardo, Lorena, Andrés, Milena y Luis—están haciendo todo lo posible para apoyarla económicamente, pero los costos son abrumadores. Por eso hemos creado esta campaña en GoFundMe. Cualquier contribución, por pequeña que sea, hará una diferencia significativa. Su apoyo ayudará a cubrir los costos de su atención médica y le dará la mejor oportunidad posible de recuperación.

Hello, my name is Alfonso Reyes Umpierrez, and I have been blessed to know Mirella Estrella de Polit, affectionately known as "Mirellita," for over 20 years through my wife, Cristina Polit, who is Mirellita's niece. Today, I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea for support for a woman who means so much to our family.

Mirellita decided to undergo knee replacement surgery to regain her mobility and improve her quality of life. The surgery initially went well, but on the second day post-surgery, tragedy struck. A blood clot formed and traveled to her brain, causing a severe stroke. She was unresponsive for hours, resulting in paralysis on the entire right side of her body, from her face to her feet. Compounding this, Mirellita also lost her ability to speak.

While the knee surgery was covered by insurance, the extensive and ongoing treatments required due to these complications are not. Mirellita will need comprehensive care, including nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists, and various medical accommodations and visits over the next year. The financial burden is immense.

Her children—Ricardo, Lorena, Andres, Milena, and Luis—are doing everything they can to support her financially, but the costs are overwhelming. This is why we have set up this GoFundMe campaign.
