On March 6, 2022, my sister Misti and Brother In Law Mike received a call that would change their family’s lives forever. Their 12 year old daughter Mirayah was involved in a tragic firework incident that severely damaged her iris and ruptured both of her ear drums. She had emergency surgery to save her eye, but there is a possibility she will be blind in that eye. She needs additional operations and reconstructive surgery on the injured eye as well as surgery on her “good” eye due to metal debris left from the blast. Her right hand was also severely injured and will need additional treatment and likely physical therapy. There have been many missed days of work for both parents so far and they will continue to have doctor visits and medical procedures for the foreseeable future. In addition to the medical road to recovery for Mariyah, she and the whole family will need emotional healing from the traumatic nature of the situation and support as they learn to live with their new reality. This is an extremely hard-working family that would never ask for help! Anything you can do would make a world of difference and help them in a tremendous way. All funds raised will be used for treatment, healing and recovery and the practical related expenses.
