Hi, my name is Marty Milner. Last night on October 27th, my sister Miranda Shaffer, and her husband Josh Shaffer, were in a catastrophic vehicle collision with what was likely an impaired driver. Miranda is currently undergoing a series of surgeries for her many injuries which include a brain bleed, two broken neck bones, a broken hand and foot, multiple lacerations to her head, among many others. She is unable to breathe on her own, will likely never walk again, and possibly will never be able to use her upper body as well. Josh was conscious for the crash, and crawled out of the wreck with a hematoma on his chest, and is now terribly traumatized.

Anyone who knows Miranda and Josh, knows they're a beautiful couple who are madly in love. They were recently married in May and deserved a healthy, normal start of their marriage. That was ripped away from them and they instead now have a long, painful and arduous road of recovery together that will change the rest of their lives. Miranda and Josh will need financial support to help them on their journey, since they will both be unable to work for the foreseeable future, and our family will have to make many sacrifices to ensure their health. Josh will likely be her primary caretaker for a long time, if not for the rest of her life, once she is able to return home. Everything is very uncertain at the moment.

Any donations, as well as prayers, would be greatly appreciated by our family. Donations will go towards covering costs for any of Miranda and Josh's daily needs such as therapy, extended physiotherapy, rent, lack of wages, and any other way they are affected.

UPDATE: Shallon Naturals, Miranda and our mom's store here in Brentwood Bay, has been receiving overwhelming community support from members of our community offering to volunteer to run the store while Miranda and our mom are unable to. We are currently figuring out logistics to have a team keep the place running. Thank you to everyone who has offered to volunteer!
