The month of March was devastating for this sweet little 3 year old and her family.
Madi was admitted to Children's Mercy Hospital March 5th, for observation that turned into an 18 day inpatient stay with 3 brain surgeries and a heart wrenching diagnosis of medulloblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
Madi started her 6 week daily regimen of full brain and spine radiation along with once a week chemotherapy shortly after being discharged. She has endured many horrific side effects that no small child should ever have to endure. The radiation has burned her throat and left sores in her mouth, making even her favorite foods intolerable. The weight loss has become of great concern to the doctors and may require Madi to undergo another surgery for the placement of a feeding tube. Her weight needs to be at an optimum as she will begin a new regimen of drugs on July 5th. This will be Madi’s toughest battle as they will be administering 3 chemotherapy drugs during a 3 day inpatient stay, home for 4 days and then back to the hospital for more outpatient chemotherapy. This course of treatment along with multiple trips for blood work will last for 6 treacherous months.
Madi and her family have a long road ahead and we are asking for any donations to assist with medical and travel expenses through this difficult time.
Keeping this family in your thoughts and prayers is greatly appreciated.
Thank you and may God bless you.
