Miracles for Mira

Donation protected
The short version:
Our friends, Nikita and Travis Galloway, need help.

Their sweet girl Mira has been diagnosed with a 4cm aneurysm in her brain requiring the family fly to IWK in Halifax for surgical treatment. We know that some costs will be covered by MCP, however, Nikita and Travis have both missed (and will miss more) work.  Nikita and Travis are the last people in the world to ever ask for anything, so I am asking on their behalf.

100% of funds raised (aside from any Go Fund Me fees) will go to Nikita and Travis to make up the difference in lost wages, and any costs that MCP will not or cannot cover as a result of them traveling out of province for treatment. The surgeon they met in NL advised that out of province treatment is the best option for Mira due to the large size of her aneurysm.

The Long Version:
Mira came into the world on December 25th 2015, demanding a two day holiday to celebrate her arrival.

Unbeknownst to her Mom and Dad and the medical team at the Janeway, she suffered a stroke just before, during, or after her birth.
Nikita and Travis noticed what they would later learn was seizure activity as the iron from the blood clot in her brain that caused the stroke broke down and entered her blood stream.

At only 6 weeks old, Mira had 4 focal seizures through out a day and was subsequently admitted to the Janeway. An EEG of her brain showed she had a focal abnormality on the right side of her brain and an ultrasound was performed which came back normal. She was discharged on seizure medication two days later. Two days after that she had an MRI which showed she had a neonatal or inter-uterine hemorrhagic stroke of her basal ganglion.

Nikita and Travis have taken Mira to every support they can to give her the best shot at being the most awesome little girl she can be. From hospital clinics, to occupational therapy, physical therapy, and neurologists, she has been around the block at the Janeway! All these appointments, while necessary, mean that Nikita and Travis were already down a lot of available time off.

A few weeks ago, Nikita and Travis looked at Mira's headache log and noticed that something wasn't right. They brought Mira to the doctor and to the Janeway, and they had an emergency MRI and were rushed to see a neurologist.

Today, Nikita and Travis were told that Mira has a 4cm aneurysm in her brain, and the best option was for Mira to be flown to the IWK for surgery. We do not have a date yet, but we are confident that it will be soon due to the urgent nature of her condition.

As you can imagine, the stress of suspecting something is wrong, to being told that your 3 year old needs brain surgery is staggering. Constant fear, anxiety, and worry have a huge impact on daily functioning.

I'm asking for your financial help, so we can help ease the financial burden on Nikita and Travis as they take stress leave from their jobs, and travel out of province for Mira to have her aneurysm treated.
