Miracles for Hayden
Donation protected
Hayden has been battling DIPG (diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma) since his diagnosis in May of 2020.
DIPG is a very rare and inoperable brain tumor located in the brain stem. He began traditional treatment of radiation and quickly enrolled in a clinical trial at the University of Florida. After beginning treatment through the trial in June, Hayden has endured countless rounds of steroids, radiation treatments and chemotherapy. His little body has been through more than any child's ever should. Recently, Hayden had to have a shunt placed due to build up of fluid and spend several days in the PICU. Since his last stay in the hospital, Hayden has drastically declined and his symptoms have increased. Hayden is unable to walk or hold himself up. He has no control over the right side of his body. He is able to control his left hands, but deals with tremors and has little strength. The location of the tumor controls speech which makes communication very difficult and is frustrating for Hayden. His difficulty swallowing without choking makes eating difficult. He still enjoys food but his family has to get creative in helping him to get nourishment. Thick it has helped so that he can still enjoy his tea and hot cocoa. His mother has had to perform the Heimlich several times since has been home from the hospital.
If you have heard of Hayden's story before and already contributed financially or with prayers, thank you. It means more than you know. I decided to create a new GoFundMe page because this family is currently in the middle of this battle. Hayden has four more months in the clinical trial. This means, the family has to travel to Gainesville multiple times for treatments and check ups which is quite costly. As many of you know, Melissa had to quit her job to stay home and be Hayden's full time caregiver while her husband works, which leaves the family with one income instead of two. There is an influx of hospital bills that arrive daily as well as cost of chemotherapy and other medications Hayden is on. Insurance is a blessing but only covers so much. With all that the Powell family is dealing with currently, finances should be the very last thing on their minds. I ask that if you cannot donate financially, please pray. Pray for a miracle for Hayden. We believe in the power of prayer and the healing hands of our Lord. He is the great physician. Please pray for comfort for Hayden and for his family, for peace that passes all understanding. For knowledge and wisdom for Hayden's doctors.
