Sammy's Vet Bills RIP Miracle Dog
My name is Jamie and my adorable dog in the picture is Sammy. He is a 4-year-old lab-sheperd mix. Sammy is an incredibly intelligent and friendly dog. I took him in when he was 3 months old. He was a stray that wandered up one day.
Sammy and I have a very strong bond. When he is not feeling well, I always know. However, I am not the only person that has a strong bond with him. Anyone who comes in contact with him always falls in love. My fiance and my close friends love spending time with him cuddling, hiking, walking, and playing ball. (He LOVES tennis balls.)
About 3 years ago, he began having back problems. Throughout the years we have had him checked out by multiple vets and multiple tests, including xrays. None of them can figure out why a 4yr old dog has these problems.
Well, a few days ago, his back began hurting him again. Immediately, we began giving him his medication that was left over from the previous vet visits. This time was different though. It was getting worse and over the course of 2 days he lost all feeling in the lower half of his body.
He is now paralyzed from the waste down with no control of his bladder or bowel movements. He cannot walk and is very scared. We took him to a neurologist who recommended an MRI and then back surgery, but that costs between $4,000 and $6,000. The only other option was to put him down, so this go fund me was my final option.
We knew we could not afford the $6,000 surgery, but we were not giving up on him either. An MRI confirmed a herniated disc. So he had surgery and it went really well. Now, only time will tell if he regains his ability to walk. I have faith in God for him to be able to walk again. The expenses were placed on a care credit card and I have 6 months to pay it off or I will incur about 30% interest. There is no way we can do this ourselves. I am asking you to play a part in his recovery by donating and/or sharing this go fund me.
If you can donate, I am deeply grateful. My dog means the world to me. I cannot imagine losing him. Please please help. Prayers are also welcomed and appreciated. Thank you!!
