On the afternoon of December 29, 2016 a beautiful baby boy named Henry Fisher Myers was born. His mother, Lisa Genobles Myers, went into emergency surgery to deliver him, as the doctors became concerned about his movement in the womb. Upon delivery, the doctors discovered that he had developed Meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS), also known as neonatal aspiration, which impacts his lungs and ability to breath. The doctors treated as they normally would but through treatment and other testing, they discovered that poor baby Henry had some other very serious issues. He has a hole in his heart, one of his heart valves is not functioning normally and his kidneys are not functioning normally.
Due to the criticality of Henry's situation, he was transferred, on Dec. 31, via helicopter to MUSC in Charleston, SC, where the best doctors, for pediatric issues as described above, reside. He continues to remain in critical condition and is fighting for his life. The hope is with the specialty of the doctors at MUSC and their resources and technology, baby Henry will have a better and quicker chance for recovery. They are currently putting him on a special machine that will help strengthen his lungs and heart. More tests are being run as well to determine the severity of his condition, as well as next steps.
His mother, Lisa, and father, Will, along with his brother, Tucker (only 1 years of age) have already relocated to Charleston to be with Henry. They are staying at a nearby hotel until they can be accepted into a facility – e.g. RMH for assistance with housing, food, and daycare for their other son. Grandparents and other family members have also made the journey with them to assist, especially over the next several days of the unknown.
This fund is being established for Baby Henry and the Myers' Family, Lisa, Will and Tucker, in hopes that we can help with the financial burden that comes along with the doctor, hospital, medical transportation, and other miscellaneous bills. While the baby is covered under insurance, we’re expecting it won’t be near enough to cover everything that has/will be done. The family is trying to get into programs/housing that will cover most of their living expenses while away from home and out of work – but they will still need help there too. I'm starting with a goal of $10k, and hopefully that will cover the remainder out of pocket for this beautiful and brave family.
If you feel so inclined, to find it in your heart to contribute financially (every and any $ matters), and if you can share this with others in your community of friends and family that might be able to help, we all would be so grateful. All money raised will go to the medical bills and expenses for Henry. Anything remaining will be donated to the March of Dimes in Henry's name.
God is good. We know this. We believe in His strength and miracles. He will take care of our Henry. We appreciate your thoughts, prayers and your love and care for Baby Henry and the Myers family in this time of need.
Love to all. God Bless.
