Miracle House Foundation is a sober living community that is changing the ives of young men battling drug and alcohol addiction through fostering a strong community committed to healthy living and personal growth.

 

There is a rapidly increasing percent of residents suffering from drug and alcohol dependency throughout Los Angeles communities. For those battling addiction, COVID-19 has only made their struggle more difficult, as resources are limited. Miracle House Foundation was founded to fill the increasingly growing gap in these services by providing a low-cost option focused not only on recovery, but resiliency and independence. Addiction does not discriminate; substance abuse impacts individuals of all backgrounds and walks of life. Economic inequity is heavily prevalent within the addiction rehabilitation industry. Miracle House Foundation aims to break barriers and increase access for those wanting to attain sobriety through an affordable sober living option that incorporates vocational learning and workforce development for self-sufficiency.

 

Graduation rates and success stories emphasize the positive impact of Miracle House Foundation’s sober living program. Thus far the foundation has served, 25 young men who have graduated from Miracle House Foundation. Of our recent graduates, 100% secured stable employment prior to transitioning out of the program. Our support does not stop at graduation, and we encourage past residents to remain involved with the organization through community outreach events, mentorship to current residents, and participation in group activities. Case managers maintain contact with past residents to support their needs. As of today, 76% of the graduates have maintained their sobriety.

An excerpt from a recent graduate story is a testament to the impact of MHF services: “The Miracle House Foundation has done so much for me, that I was never able to do for myself. In my last year of using I could barely string together a day or two of sobriety. Now I am so close to reaching a year sober and can finally picture a joyful future for myself. I came in as an unhappy and angry young man who did not know right from wrong. This house has taught me so many life lessons and has given me the necessary tools to tackle life to the best of my ability. I am forever grateful for everything that the Miracle House Foundation has done for me.”

 

During their time at Miracle House, residents are introduced to a 12-step program, are referred to outpatient clinical services if needed. Additional support is provided through legal assistance if needed and structured social activities to expose residents to substance-free fun. Live-in sober house managers are on the property 24/7 to provide guidance and supervision, reducing the desire to relapse. The organization currently consists of six board members, five staff members, volunteers, and a strong graduate community. All members of the board are connected to overcoming substance abuse in some way, whether personally or through a loved one’s journey, which brings lived experience to the team. Administrative responsibilities are managed by the organization’s Director of Operations, who handles everything from enrollment processing to community partnerships and workshop planning for residents. The additional four staff persons provide direct support to Miracle House residents as a House Manager, Assistance House Manager, Night House Manager, and Therapist/Group Facilitator. The volunteers and graduates assist with various tasks around the house, provide transportation, support the young men in the house, assist with special events and then some.
