Miracle for Mike's Liver

We are humbling ourselves once again as we have new and updated diagnoses. Since our last GoFundMe drive, Mike has continued to battle for his life while his liver continues to weak havoc on his body. After getting under new doctors in our new hometown, we have discovered and been given some answers. Recently diagnosed with End-Stage Liver Disease and Cirrhosis and on set diabetes from the malfunctioning liver, a transplant looks to be inevitable. Although he can maintain himself right now, it comes at a price. We have had trips to the ER for episodes called hepatic encephalopathy, which occurs when the liver produces high amounts of ammonia and the brain gets "confused". Since the new year, we have also had numerous blood draws, labs and multiple specialists to see. Procedures from biopsies, x-rays, fibro scans and an upcoming EGD.

We have been lucky enough to have medical insurance for Mike. However, all this still adds up. Mike is still the sole income for the family, but time off and sick leave only last so long. Our next journey is getting a liver transplant out of state, which will require time spent away from home, more specialists and more procedures God willing, a the total costs as that is all variable, however even with insurance, the bills, lodging, and follow-up visits will surpass $20,000 at the least. I (Jessica) am doing my best to do my part financially. Mike recently took a 20k paycut because of his health, this big pay cut is making it more challanging if not close to impossible. Being Mike's sole caregiver, assisting in medical appointments, not to mention having a child to care for and educate, finding a job to work around all that is difficult. I will be exploring craft fairs this fall/winter and doing some home projects in the meantime. We want this fundraiser to be in place for anyone who would like to help or pass along the page to others who may want to help. At the end of the day, we are all in this together, and we all do the best we can in this crazy life we have!
