The reason we are reaching out for assistance is due to the large amount of medical debt we have acquired due to our son being sick. CJ was born with a rare congenital disease called hyperinsulinism, 24 hours after he was born his blood sugar was so low he had to be resuscitated. It was the scariest day of our lives, almost losing our son, unfortunately there were several other close calls that happened during his 40 day stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.Soon after he was transferred to the NICU, he suffered a severe seizure due to the low blood sugars. There was little they could do to treat and diagnose him due to the level of the facility he was at, and the rarity of his condition. Each day he was getting sicker and sicker as the doctors and nurses scrambled to save him. Therefore at 10 days old he was considered critical and was emergency flighted to a larger hospital. I cannot explain the fear I had of losing CJ, and how very real that outcome was at that time. The care team was able to keep him stable, and after several weeks he was diagnosed with hyperinsulinism, resulting in partial pancreatic surgery. The surgery was considered successful and a week later we were able to finally bring him home! Due to follow up trips to the large hospital for drs appointments and continuing his care/recovery, required my wife to quit her job and stay home to care for him. We are deeply in debt, and have been doing our best to stay afloat on one income all the while bills are coming in daily. I just ask that you please consider helping us at this time. Thank you.
