I came home as soon as I could to be with my family and to see that there was absolutely nothing left of the only home any of us had ever known. I could not be more grateful that my family made it out safely and unharmed. The thought that I almost lost my entire family in one night has been absolutely destroying me. So coming from me, hug your loved ones a little bit tighter every single day. But after the ashes have settled, knowing that they are now homeless without any clothes, shoes, family photos, beds to sleep in or a roof over their heads - has been heartbreaking and I feel helpless.
The insurance companies are overwhelmed with over 2,000 families all trying to reach their agents and companies to file a claim for their house and belongings, so my family is on a long waitlist to get any sort of provisions from insurance both monitary and emotional.
So I am reaching out to those who have asked to help in any way they can. I just want more than anything for them to find a home to rent while they figure out what to do with their lost house. A safe bed to sleep in every night. Have a backpack and new clothes for my sister Miranda (17 years old) and my brother Alex (14 years old) to have for high school, and somehwere for my parents to call home, even if its temporarily. I want them to have their lives back more than anything, but I know they can't. I cannot begin to thank you for anything you can donate. I know there are so many families in need right now, but unfortunately I can only fight for mine. Thank you thank you thank you and all the love in the world to you and yours.
