September, 2014, Kimberly was admitted again (this time for 6 days) with the same symptoms. Again, after all the tests, scans, and biopsies, she was released without a clear diagnosis. This time she had better insurance coverage, but still was served with a bill for $6,000.
One of the specialists suggested Kimberly should go to the liver clinic at University of Michigan. She went to the clinic, the doctors there ran more tests and delivered a clear (but scary) diagnosis. Kimberly has a large tumor (probably benign) in the liver which has to be removed because it has been bleeding. In addition, on the opposite side of the liver there is a lesion which also must be removed. Her surgery is scheduled for February 18. Recovery time is estimated to be 8-12 weeks.
We covet your prayers during surgery and recovery and appreciate any help you can offer to offset these medical costs.
Kimberly has a good job with medical insurance, but the patient responsibility of 30% is still a staggering amount with a surgery of this type.
