Minnesota State Fair Bench for BIG DADDY!
Donation protected
Friends of Big Daddy –
Many of you know our brother Larry Iten aka: Big Daddy
He was recently diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer and his Kidney cancer has returned.
So far this is what we know:
Esophageal cancer (lower) metastasis so considered Stage 4 (1st priority)
Recurring Kidney Cancer – (will monitor and review options)
The cancer is in:
Lower esophagus and his left ischium (The ischium is the lower and back part of the hip bone)
*new* They also found a “suspicious for cancer” spot on the left side on the lung
• We do not know if this is from the kidney cancer or the esophageal cancer and the only way to find out is to do a biopsy.
• Currently – surgery is not an option
• No matter what option or plan Larry chooses – this is not a cure, but a control of the cancer.
The plan is to start radiation and chemo.
He will need to get a port / pump.
Chemo would be every 2 weeks with more scans completed after 4 chemo treatments (so every 2 months)
Radiation first then Chemo OR both at the same time.
If Larry does nothing – life expectancy 4-6 months. He wants to do whatever he can to prolong his life, so he is moving forward with treatments soon. Big Daddy is a fighter!!
We – his brothers and sisters are hoping to raise enough donations to have a Minnesota State Fair Bench placed in 2022 at the Fairgrounds in honor of BIG DADDY and his fight!
We are hopeful that he will be around to see this bench while as Big Daddy would say “I am still walking, still talking”. For those who do not know this about “Big Daddy” He loves the Fair - this year was his 25th year without missing one (except the Covid 2020 closure).
Please help spread the word!!
Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts, his siblings:
Barb Schumann (Iten) aka “Big Mama”
Mary, David, Theresa, and Kevin.

Recognition Bench – $2,500 contribution & possibly a $250.00 pavement brick.
