Ministry Vehicle TOTALED, No Insurance.

Hi, my name is Savannah Sullivan de Lopez and I work with a ministry called Motivo Urbano Guatemala in Puerto San Jose, Escuintla, Guatemala.

OUR MISSION: We are a Christian association committed to sharing the love of Christ with our neighbors, without discrimination, especially children and young people who are exposed to drugs, violence, and crime, giving them the opportunity to skateboard and participate in healthy recreation, instructing them to to be helpers at home, good citizens, and disciples of Christ in Puerto San José, Guatemala and around the world.

My husband, Byron Lopez and his brother, Juan Lopez started Motivo Urbano Guatemala 10 years ago. Throughout those ten years, their family's truck was used almost exclusively for ministry purposes. They used it to go to the ministry every weekend (the main building) but they also used it for activities such as visiting schools, handing out care packages, visiting families, praying for the sick, and taking trips to the capital or other places to do skate demos and preach to the lost.

In October 2022, The Lopez family's truck was totaled when Byron and Juan were on their way back from the capital with a huge donation of food for the families we serve. While they were going downhill, a tractor-trailer driver slammed on his brakes. Due to the rain and the heavy load, the truck hydroplaned right into the back of the tractor-trailer. The airbags went off and everything. Byron was somehow able to stop the car on the side of the road, but the other driver just abandoned the scene.

Praise God that Byron and Juan survived--We know that God protected them even as they experienced this horrible accident.

The car on the other hand was totaled, and there was no insurance to help foot the bill.

We waited until now to reach out because were taking some time to try to find the best solution. After quoting prices to repair the truck, we concluded that it would be better to sell it "as is" and save the money towards a new truck.

They were able to get about $4,500 dollars for the totaled truck. They are hoping to get another manual 4x4 Toyota Tacoma to continue to use for the ministry and their family, but it seems truly impossible to save that kind of money here in Guatemala.

As believers, we know that God takes care of his children and that he will provide for all of our needs. We are not asking for selfish reasons, but in fact to be able to serve God and our community like Motivo Urbano Guatemala has been doing for the past 10 years.

Would you please consider supporting the Lopez family so that they can purchase an even better truck than the one that they lost?

We want it to serve them for many more years as they continue working tirelessly in Motivo Urbano Guatemala.

May God bless you and thank you in advance for your support!
Savannah
