MinIsland Farm Barn Fire Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Hello! We are a small family farm in Harrodsburg, Kentucky called MinIsland Farm. Here on the farm, we strive to build a place where you can experience the peace of Christ while cultivating God's creation. We are a mini-island of peace and love in the midst of a fast-paced world, and our family motto is "Beautiful Chaos". We live a chaotic lifestyle as a one-income family with a hobby farm homeschooling four youngins 6 years old and younger, but we choose to see and savor the beauty of it.

Unfortunately, a very un-beautiful disaster has hit the farm. On April 9, 2025 while picking dandelions with the kids to make jelly, our barn caught on fire. My husband, parents, neighbors, and even some church community members raced to the barn while I called 911 to rescue the animals. 8 meat chickens, 2 peacocks, 1 momma pig, and 8 baby pigs all made it out alive thanks to their efforts and though we lost the entire barn, we praise God that no one was hurt.

We learned this morning that the barn was considered too old to be covered by our insurance. It was written right there in the policy, but we were under the impression the barn was covered. Now, we are stuck trying to remove the barn to make our yard safe for our kids again while simultaneously trying to come up with adequate housing for the rescued animals along with our 40-some chickens that no longer have a coop.

We are asking for your help in two ways:
1) If you are able to donate, we ask that you help us come up with the funds to, at the very least, build a chicken coop to re-home them before they get eaten by coyotes. If enough funds are raised, we will start to rebuild the barn which was also home for our meat chickens, peacocks, held the brooder to raise just-hatched chicks, and had two farrowing pens to birth pigs and raise the piglets until they are 8-weeks old.

2) We ask that you pray for us and our family. The children, especially our six-year-old daughter, were a little traumatized watching the barn burn to the ground. We are giving them all the snuggles we can! Pray that God continues to provide for us as he always has. Jesus, we trust in you.

Our patron saint on the farm is St. Isidore, patron saint of farmers. Pray for us! We also have a family group of saints we pray to regularly: St. Anne, St. Joseph, St. Anthony, St. John the Baptist, and St. Philomena...pray for us.

Thank you all so much for your support. It means a lot.
