Mini marathon for Mummy's Star
Donation protected
Three months after this photo was taken, I had been told something that completely floored me. I had breast cancer. I was 33 and had 2-year-old and 3-month old daughters. I had a full year of surgeries, chemotherapy and radiotherapy and spent 21 nights in hospital away from my young children. It was tough, but I picked myself up and got through it.
Mummy's Star was a huge help in getting me through those 12 months. It is the only charity in the UK and Ireland dedicated to the women and their families affected by cancer during pregnancy or shortly after a birth. They provide advice, emotional support and financial support to pay for childcare for example so that the mother can attend her hospital appointments. It was set up by an Irish man following the death of his wife two months after the birth of their son. Check it out at http://www.mummysstar.org/
I am doing the mini marathon this year on Sunday 3rd June and would love to raise some money to allow Mummy's Star to support other women who are going through the most incredibly difficult period of their lives at a time which should be the happiest.
If you could donate anything, big or small, I and they would be incredibly grateful.
Thank you,
Claire.
