for Mindy... Actually, it -IS- Brain Surgery!

A few years ago, our daughter Mindy was diagnosed with a benign tumor on her pituitary gland, at the base of her brain. While it's debatable that this may be the source of her Mathematical Superpowers, in the long run, the tumor has gotta go as it will have a dangerous effect on her health over time.

Mindy had neurosurgery to remove it 3 years ago, but in January her neurosurgeon confirmed that the slow growing tumor has returned. And then...the pandemic put a halt on all non-emergent surgeries in Australia, where Mindy and her family, Matt and Hali, currently live. 4 days ago, the doctor contacted her to advise that her surgery date has been scheduled just 2 weeks from now, on Friday, June 19th, leaving little time to prepare.

Add to this dilemma the situation that Australia currently has in effect a ban on all non-citizens entering the country because of the pandemic. This will prevent our family from making the trip to Australia on time to help care for Mindy when she is released from the hospital.

While Gus, Cheryl, Ty and I, along with our family, are heartbroken that we cannot be there with our daughter during this scary time as she goes through brain surgery and recovery, our hope is that we come together as Family and Friends to support Mindy, Matt and Hali during the recovery process as best we can from afar, while lightening the load that Matt will face having to care for Mindy alone.

Our hope is to raise enough support to give them a way to have prepared meals for the 3-4 week recovery process, and also to have someone come in to help clean their home so Matt can concentrate on helping Mindy. Also, they face having to deal with up to a month of lost income during this time.
