Mindful Classrooms Project
My name is Amber (Zidarevich) Kilpatrick and I am the creator of The Mindful Classrooms Project.
Mindfulness is a popular word that simply means, "Paying attention, on purpose, in a way that is kind and gentle." Decades of neuroscience and research are showing that Mindfulness directly impacts self-awareness, emotional regulation, anxiety, fear, and the ability to cope with the demands of life's stress. Simply put - mindfulness works!
Children are impacted by stress and the demands of life just as much as adults. Even more so, if they are also affected by poverty and/or unstable living conditions. This stress can carry over into the classroom and may make it difficult to concentrate, follow instructions, or learn.
Enter The Mindful Classrooms Project -
The Mindful Classrooms Project at Congress Elementary School brings the life changing benefits of mindfulness to grades K-5 (and staff) in one of our Grand Rapids, MI Public Schools. Through skilled instruction, delivered by trained staff, we teach kids how to focus, relax, and feel safe in their bodies. This project consists of 6 trained mindfulness instructors, teaching mindfulness in 7 classrooms for 6 weeks.
With the support of family, friends, and our generous community, we have already raised $1800! This campaign effort is to raise the final $1020 needed to fully fund this project! Your contributions will directly impact the well-being of children in our public schools. Please help us meet our goal!!
Thank you - sincerely - for your consideration.
*It is my mission to bring this program to ALL school children in Grand Rapids (and beyond). This is the first step. Thank you for being a part of it.
