Hello Friends & Strangers. My name is Min & my partner is Morgan.
Putting my sob story out there is tough for me, but we need help. I've been out of work due to a car accident. My priorities had been on my recovery so I could return to work, but those priorities have drastically shifted.
Our landlord issued a Notice of Vacancy for April 30.
We rent a 4 bedroom home & the owner is selling the property. Although we had enough of a budget to just scrape by while I've been unemployed, we don't have enough to deal with a move. We also have no idea where to go. The current housing market has priced everything into the stratosphere.
With so little time to pack up & move out, we've had to make some tough decisions. Here's the current plan.
- STUFF: Getting rid of a bunch, putting the rest into Storage in Tampa.
- MIN & OUR CATS: Since all my medical care is in the Tampa Bay Area, I'll be heading to a friend's very small guest room in Pinellas County. Safe space, but not an ideal space. Their house is already very full of people & pets, so Boris & Natasha (our cats) won't be able to leave the guest room.
- MORGAN: Since he works from home, needs quiet & more space, therefore he'll be heading down to the Miami area to stay in another friend's guest room.
Hence, the Torn Asunder since we will be about 4 hours from each other. I'm not sure if Natasha or I will miss Morgan more.
If you can contribute Money, anything helps, even just $5. Here's how the funds will be used.
- Storage Unit Fees
- Packing Materials & Rental Truck
- Possibly professional movers if we can't get enough friends for the big stuff.
- Rental move-in costs (first, last, security, pet deposit, etc.). This is the big one, especially with the insane rental prices right now.
The Dream:
We would love to buy a home and not worry about moving again. If this Fundraiser blows up & raises way more than we hoped, then we'll use that money for a downpayment on a purchase instead of another rental.
How else can you help:
If you are near the Busch Gardens area, I could use some free labor, especially if you have a truck or van that can be loaded & taken to our Storage Unit near the Airport. We hope to have the house emptied by Sunday, April 24, giving me the last week to clean the house.
Another way to help is find us a place to live. I had to back burner the Apt/Home Hunt until we & our stuff are secure. If you would like to help with the search for a cheap legitimate rental (not a scam), contact me for the details of our needs & wants.
