Hi, on behalf of Jackie (aka "Mimzy") and both of us, her kids, my brother and I would like to thank you for visiting this GoFundMe. Our mother who has dedicated her entire life to her kids and family was recently diagnosed with uterine cancer, and she now faces a tough battle which we have every confidence in her that she will fight fiercely. As her primary caretakers, we have begun the initial stages of planning and treatment together with her oncologist, and already the harsh reality of the cost of cancer care has become evident. As a medicare patient, our mother will be responsible for various copays and costs throughout this battle, and she has already begun to get discouraged by mounting bills. We've not yet even begun treatment and surgery, and she's already been worrying about how she will continue to afford the tiny home she lives in, while paying for the cost of her battle.

My brother and I decided to organize this GoFundMe with the hopes that we can rally support behind our amazing mother who has spent her entire live giving to others, with the hopes that we can raise up enough support to ease her worries enough to focus on the most important battle: kicking cancer's ass.

For full transparency to supporters: the set goal amount may vary as we progress in her treatment, but right now it is based entirely on what she has accrued for services rendered and will be responsible to pay at time of scheduled services (including, but not limited to her diagnostic procedures, surgical procedures, appointment copays and prescriptions). We will be updating this fundraiser as things progress so that supporters know and can be assured that their contributions are satisfying her actual cancer care costs. At the end of this journey, if there is anything in excess in this fundraiser, we will be contributing it to The Foundation for Women's Cancer.

Mimz has a major surgery coming up next week where her oncologist is going to aggressively try to remove as much as he can, but he has already made us aware that her type of cancer is known to be more aggressive, and that there will likely be chemo and/or radiation therapies to follow.

Above are a few screenshots; one for a provider's cancer diagnostic services, and the second is what is due on her surgery date next week for the removal of the mass. I can't begin to tell you how disheartening it is to hear our mother ready to give up before things even start, solely because she is worried about losing her home and livelihood (which she worked so hard for) to the cost of the battle. Medicare unfortunately does not cover everything, and there is no maximum out of pocket that protects her at a certain point, so we're hoping that we might be able to rally support behind her via the power of the internet and online communities. We've looked into supplemental insurance, but unfortunately with a cancer diagnosis and outside open enrollment, she is unable to get approved for any. If you are someone who knows our mom, you probably already know what a remarkable lady she is, and how she will always go out of her way to be kind and giving to everyone she meets. You may have seen her positive and uplifting poetry, writing and/or artwork. You may know all of the obstacles she has had to overcome to arrive at a place in life where she has her own little tiny home and job, smashing goals and bettering herself even at age 71.

We appreciate your help in any form you are able to give it, be it sharing this, or donating any amount towards the cost of her ongoing cancer battle. We are determined to see her beat this. She is a fierce warrior and has overcome everything life has thrown at her thus far. We love her so very much, and we hope that through this GFM, we may be able to ease her financial worries and fears enough that she can focus all of her energy and willpower on the most important fight.

We will update this GFM with Mimzy's progress as we progress, but at the time of the creation of this fundraiser, we are at the stage of recent diagnosis and her cancer surgery impending next week. Her oncologist will be removing everything he possibly can, including lymph nodes and a few other areas surrounding where they found the cancer, and with that surgery and pathology we will then know the stage and the treatments required going forward. It is our sincere hope that her amazing surgeon can cure her with surgery alone, and we hold onto that hope every day, so the amount set on the start of this GFM is based on her costs accrued thus far up to and including her surgery and upcoming hospital stay.
