Thank you for the outpouring of support and kind words on the passing of Milton Wiggins on Saturday, December 19, 2020. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for people to make a donation to the Milton J. Wiggins Memorial Fund to support the planting of a tree and flower bed at his home church in Sunbury, NC to commemorate his love for the church and his passion as a landscaper.
Milton J. Wiggins was born November 19, 1914 and raised in Sunbury, NC. where he started his spiritual journey at St. John AME Zion Church. As an adult, he moved to Brooklyn, NY and then to Hackensack, NJ where he owned and operated a successful gardening and landscaping business for 23 years. In 1990, Milton retired and returned to Sunbury and St. John AME Zion Church, For several years he shared his passion for gardening and landscaping with St. John Church by maintaining the church grounds. Also, St. John AME Zion church is a family church originally built and maintained by family and a part of the Sunbury history. Milton's family and the church leadership think it is fitting to create a memorial for Milton on the grounds of St. John AME Zion Church to commemorate his commitment and love for the church and his passion. The money raised will be used to plant and maintain a tree and a flower bed as a memorial to Milton Wiggins' life journey from cradle to grave at St. John AME Zion Church.
The viewing will take place on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 2:00pm - 6:00pm at the Hertford County Undertakers in Winton , NC. The funeral services will be held Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 1:00 pm outside of St. John AME Zion Church. All donors will be notified about the date for the memorial service in the near future.
